1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us and information generated through your use of the Service.
Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password.
Family tree data. We store the names, dates of birth, relationships, locations, and photographs you add to your family tree. This may include information about living and deceased individuals.
Invited members. When you invite a family member, we collect their email address to send the invitation. They become subject to this Privacy Policy upon joining.
Usage data. We automatically collect certain technical information when you use the Service, including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and actions taken within the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service • Create and manage your account • Send you invitations, notifications, and service-related emails • Respond to your questions and support requests • Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve the product • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not share your personal information except in the following circumstances:
With family members you invite. Information you add to a shared family tree is visible to the family members you explicitly invite.
Service providers. We work with trusted third-party vendors (such as cloud hosting and email delivery) who access your data only to perform services on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of MyPusta or others.
Business transfers. If MyPusta is involved in a merger or acquisition, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously. We implement industry-standard measures including:
• Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS) • Encryption of data at rest • Access controls limiting who can access production systems • Regular security reviews
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the Service at your own risk. Please use a strong, unique password and do not share your account credentials.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and family tree data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data from our active systems within 30 days.
Certain aggregated or anonymized data may be retained for analytical purposes after account deletion. We may also retain data where required by law.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
Access and correction. You can view and edit your account information and family tree data at any time from within the Service.
Deletion. You can delete your account from your account settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed within 30 days.
Data export. You can request an export of your family tree data by contacting us at support@mypusta.com.
Communications. You can opt out of non-essential emails by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any email we send, or by updating your notification settings.
7. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how you use the Service.
We use:
• Essential cookies — required for the Service to function (e.g., session authentication) • Analytics cookies — help us understand usage patterns so we can improve the product
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect your ability to use the Service.
8. Children's Privacy
MyPusta is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Family trees may contain information about minors submitted by a parent or guardian. That information is governed by this Policy and the account holder is responsible for ensuring appropriate consent.
9. International Transfers
MyPusta is operated from Kathmandu, Nepal. If you access the Service from outside Nepal, your information may be transferred to and processed in Nepal or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice within the Service. The date of the most recent revision appears at the top of this page.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
